Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Birthday To Be Celebrated As Parakram Diwas

New Delhi: The Government of India has decided to celebrate the birthday of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on 23rd January as “Parakram Diwas” every year, Union Ministry of Culture announced on Tuesday.

The notification issued by the Ministry of Culture said, “In order to honour and remember Netaji’s indomitable spirit and his selfless service to the nation, the Government of India has decided to celebrate his birthday on January 23 every year as Parakaram Diwas to inspire people of this country, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotic fervour.”

The notification comes ahead of the upcoming West Bengal elections to perpetuate the legacy of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had earlier written a letter to PM Modi seeking the declaration of the national holiday on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. She also demanded to declare a holiday in all schools, educational institutions, and government offices on the date of Netaji’s birth anniversary.
