NEET UG counselling deferred until further notice

New-Delhi: The NEET-UG counselling, which was scheduled to begin on July 6, has been postponed till further notice, sources said on Saturday. The new date for the counselling was yet to be announced.

During a hearing in the Supreme Court, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exams, had mentioned that counseling would start on July 6, and the Supreme Court did not impose any restrictions on this.

The development comes as the Supreme Court refused to delay the NEET-UG counselling which was scheduled to begin on Saturday.

On July 5, amid the cancellation of the controversy-ridden NEET-UG, 2024 exam over alleged malpractices, the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) told the Supreme Court that scrapping it would be “counterproductive” and would “seriously jeopardise” lakhs of honest candidates in the absence of proof of large-scale breach of confidentiality.
