‘Naya Pakistan’ must take ‘naya action’ against terrorism: MEA
New Delhi: Raveesh Kumar, spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), on behalf of India exposed incessant lies by Pakistan in a press conference on Saturday.
After dogfight between India’s MiG 21 Bison and Pakistan’s F-16, Pakistan had claimed that it had downed two Indian aircraft and had video proof. The first one carried Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman but there was no second. Raveesh Kumar demanded Pakistan’s officials to submit proof to international media. Pakistan has been silent on India’s very valid demand.
Another issue raised by India was Pakistan’s continual denial of use of F-16 in the dogfight. MEA has stressed that it has both “eyewitness accounts and electronic evidence that Pakistan deployed F-16 aircraft and that one F-16 was shot down by Wing Commander Abhinandan.” India had given proof to the United States about the use of F-16 fighters. As part of the purchasing agreement, the US had put restrictions and reportedly barred Pakistan from using the F-16s against any third country.
Raveesh Kumar went on to question Pakistan’s integrity on the whole issue. Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad had claimed responsibility of the Pulwama attack. Meanwhile, Pakistan has not only denied JeM’s involvement but also their existence in Pakistan too. “Is Pakistan defending the JeM? If Pakistan claims to be a ‘Naya Pakistan’ with ‘nayi soch’ then it should show ‘naya action’ against terrorist groups and cross border terrorism?” questioned Raveesh.
The MEA spokesperson was also asked absconding PNB fraudster Nirav Modi being spotted in London. He said that India knew on Nirav’s presence in the UK and that his extradition request is being processed by the UK government.
