Nalini Pradhan’s nomination found valid after ‘office of profit’ allegation

Bhubaneswar: In a win to bureaucrat turned politician Nalini Kanta Pradhan, his nomination for Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat was found valid today by Returning Officer, during a hearing over his rival BJD candidate’s appeal for disqualification.

The Lotus party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Sambalpur Nitesh Ganga Deb had yesterday accused Pradhan of holding ‘Office of Profit’.

In his complaint to the Returning Officer Deb had claimed that, the BJP candidate from Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat was continuing as director of Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Limited and Odisha Construction Corporation Limited.

However, during the hearing against Pradhan, which was conducted at around 10.45 am found the information given by Deb as inaccurate. The Returning Office decided to accept the nomination of Pradhan based on the finding later.

On the other hand, Deb has alleged that the hearing in the case was held in illegal manner for which he would knock the door of High Court.
