Mumbai: Mumbai woke up to heavy rains on Monday, 1 July morning, with both roads and railway tracks blocked due to waterlogging. Several short and long-distance trains have been delayed or cancelled.
Weather Forecaster Skymet recorded 63mm of rains within a span of 6 hours from 11.30 pm on Sunday from 5.30 am on Monday. However, Sunday saw as much as 361 mm rains in parts of the city.
Western Railways regulated some trains, including Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express, in view of the passengers’ safety.
Senior officers from the railways are keeping a close watch is being kept on the situation, ANI reported on Monday.

Western Railway later confirmed that water levels had receded and train movement had been re-started at 8.05 am. However, train speeds were restricted to 30 km/h to ensure safety.
Water has accumulated in several parts of the financial capital of India. Waterlogging was witnessed in parts of Sion, Dadar, King Circle and Bandra as well. Rains in Mumbai also slowed down traffic movement along arterial Dr BA Road.
According to several reports, excessive waterlogging has forced Andheri subway to shut. Police officials along with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers are using pumps to remove water from the area.
Mumbai rains caused several incidents of the uprooting of trees, short-circuits from various parts of the city. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said 39 incidents of short circuit, 104 incidents of uprooting of trees or falling of branches were reported. In one of these tree fall incidents late Friday night, a few cars got damaged.
