MNF Chief Zoramthanga takes oath as Mizoram CM

Aizawl: Mizo National Front (MNF) President Zoramthanga took oath as the Chief Minister of Mizoram at a special function held at at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.

Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Zoramthanga at 12 noon. The MNF president took the oath in Mizo language.

Zoramthanga has been Chief Minister of Mizoram twice from 1998-2008. He led the MNF to victory in 1998 state assembly polls and was inducted as the Chief Minister for the first time.

He retained power in the 2003 State Assembly polls and continued as the Chief Minister.

In recent polls, the MNF  bagged 26 seats in the 40-member Assembly, while the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) bagged eight and the Congress won five seats.
