MLA slaps voter at polling booth in Andhra Pradesh, he hits back; Dramatic video goes viral

Hyderabad: While the whole country is abuzz with the 4th phase voting in 9 states and one Union territory, a dramatic video has surfaced on the internet which has angered the voters.

A video of a MLA slapping a voter for allegedly stopping him from jumping the queue at a polling booth in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district has gone viral today. According to report, the incident took place today.

The MLA in the video is Tenali’s YSR Congress Party leader A Sivakumar, who was seen coming near a voter and slapping him across the face. Meanwhile, the voters also retliated and returned the blow which infuriated the MLA’s aides. The man was severely beaten by the MLA’s aides who did not stop even when other voters tried to stop the assault on the voter.

In a brazen show of VIP culture, an Andhra Pradesh MLA slapped a voter, reportedly after he had objected to the legislator jumping the queue at a polling booth in Guntur district this morning.

Meanwhile, no security personnel were seen in the 10-second video. The video was shared on micro-blogging platform Twitter(which is currently known as X). A user named umasudhir posted the video with the caption, “Voter who objected to #Guntur District #TenaliMLA #Sivakumar jumping queue, was slapped by him & voter returned in kind; ugly show of political musclepower as the @ysrcp MLA candidate’s henchmen joined attack on voter.”

The video has gone viral across the country and the MLA is being strongly criticized for attacking an voter at the polling booth.

Meanwhile, voting is underway in Andhra Pradesh for 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats. The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party government is up against an alliance of the BJP and the N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has stated that the video is under review and alleged that it could be a conspiracy to defame the ruling party.
