MLA Bheema Mandavi, 5 cops killed as Maoists attack BJP convoy in Chhattisgarh
Raipur: Maoists attacked a convoy of BJP leaders in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada this evening ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections which killed BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi and five policemen, informed P Sundar Raj, DIG-Anti-Naxal Operation.
According to reports, the Maoist had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) near Shyamgiri under Kuakonda Police Station and blasted it when the convoy arrived at the spot. Soon after the blast, the red rebels even fired at the vehicles causing Mandavi and the security personnel’s death on the spot.
The group of BJP leaders was travelling towards Kuwakonda from Bacheli area for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections when it was targeted by the Maoists.
Meanwhile, a group of CRPF personnel has been rushed to the site. Besides, combing operation has been intensified in the area.
