Srinagar: A militant was killed in a joint operation by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday. The Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the death.
The encounter began at Kanipora area of Budgam. It started as a normal cordon and search operation by the Indian Army and state police. Based on a tip, it escalated to an encounter.

The security forces have cordoned off the entire area. They haven’t disclosed the identity of the killed militant yet. However, several arms and ammunition were recovered from the site.
The operation is still on and more details are awaited.
