Mega party worth 7 lakh for pet dog, 3 arrested

Three people in Ahmedabad were arrested for throwing a lavish birthday party for their pet dog amid rising Covid cases in Gujarat.

For some people, their pets are more than just animals. Therefore, they treat them as important family members. In a similar way, this family from Ahmedabad considers their pet dog to be a special family member. The dog’s extra special birthday celebration has gone viral on the Internet.

A family threw a lavish birthday party worth Rs. 7 lakh for their dog, Abby, in the Nikol area of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. It is believed that the party was so grand that the invitees were surprised. A huge plot at Madhuvan Green was booked for the event and tents were installed with gorgeous decorations and big posters of the dog.

On the cusp of a lavish and grand ambiance, several guests were invited to Abby’s birthday party. The dog was also dressed up in a smart black dress and a scarf which complimented the look.

At the party, along with several guests an Orchestra singer was also invited to entertain the audience. A cake-cutting ceremony took place after which everyone enjoyed the event by playing Garba.

However, on Friday night, the fun ended with the arrest of the pet owners for violating Covid-19 norms.

The Nikol police arrested brothers Chirag Patel (24), and Urvish Patel (19), residents of Kiranpark Society in Krishnan, who are also the owners of the canine. Apart from them, Divyesh Mehariya (35), resident of Vijay Kamdar Society in Krishnanagar, was also arrested by the police.

The party was in full-swing past Covid-curfew at 11 pm. Police raided the place and the men were booked for not wearing masks, violating social-distancing norms, and holding a gathering without permission.

After the videos of the youths celebrating the birthday of their dog in a lavish plot began to spread on social media, the police received a tip-off and rushed to raid the place.

A case was registered under the Disaster Management Act against the three people who were arrested later on. They were booked under IPC Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and 114 (abettor present when an offense is committed).

The arrested persons were later released on bail.
