Man commits suicide for not getting mobile phone of his choice in Mumbai

Mumbai: A 19-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Kurla here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Nadeem Sheikh.

According to a senior police officer, as quoted by the newindianexpress.com, Sheikh took the extreme step as he was apparently upset after not getting a mobile phone of his choice from his family. He ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of the kitchen around 4 am today.

“Sheikh wanted a particular mobile worth Rs 37,000, but his elder brother gave him a cell phone worth around Rs 20,000,” the newindianexpress.com quoted the police as saying. “Upset over not getting the phone of his choice, he took the extreme step,” it added.

The local police, meanwhile, said to have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
