Man arrested in Lucknow for posing as IAS officer with fake IDs and luxury cars

Lucknow: In a shocking incident, police arrested a 36-year-old engineering graduate who had been pretending to be an IAS officer in Lucknow. The man was caught during a vehicle checking drive near Kargil Park.
According to the reports, the accused is originally from Mau district and currently living in Gomtinagar extension. During the check, he claimed to be an IAS officer and showed a fake identity card and visiting card.
Further, when police searched his flat, they found six luxury cars fitted with red and blue beacons. These vehicles carried fake number plates and secretariat passes.
Several other items were also reportedly seized including a laptop, forged documents, fake Aadhaar and driving licenses with mismatched details, debit cards, beacon lights, visiting cards of different designations and some cash.
Investigators also discovered that he had created a fake government email ID to make his claim look real. Further, they found that he often attended official events, posed for pictures with senior officers and presented himself as a government official.
He also reportedly used the fake identity to enjoy protocol facilities, travel freely and take financial benefits in different states.
The man had earlier appeared for the UPSC civil services exam twice but did not succeed. After failing, he chose to impersonate an IAS officer to gain the status and advantages linked to the position.
As of now, a case has been registered at Wazirganj police station and the matter is under further investigation.
