Mumbai: The Dharavi Police in Mumbai have arrested a man for allegedly threatening a woman to upload her nude pictures on social media platforms and also send it to her relatives if she failed to grant him sexual favours.
The accused have been identified as 30-year-old Shrirang Shinde.
Dharavi police officials said that the accused then started asking the victim for a physical relationship but the victim refused. The accused then started trying to blackmail her and sent her some nude photographs of hers. The accused told the victim that if she didn’t agree to his demands, he would upload the nude pictures on the Instagram account created in her name.The accused then created an Instagram account in the name of the victim and uploaded one of her pictures he was in possession of.
The accused and the victim had become friends on Facebook and then exchanged mobile numbers and started communicating with each other. The victim had also shared issues she was facing in her married life with the accused
Following the threats, the victim approached the Dharavi police and filed a complaint against the accused. The accused location was tracked to a locality in Sewree but he was not found there. Police officials then asked the victim to contact the accused and meet him.
On February 26, a trap was laid by Dharavi police at Borivali Garden in Sanjay Gandhi National park. The accused came there and was apprehended by the police team. The accused had been using a fake name, Ashish Pawar, on social media.
