Mamata Banerjee In Delhi To Attend AAP’s Mega Opposition Rally

New Delhi: Three weeks after her mega rally in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee is in Delhi to attend Aam Aadmi Party’s Mega Opposition rally. Banerjee will participate in a dharna (sit-in) by opposition leaders to save the Constitution and democracy. The dharna at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar is being loosely labeled “Mahagathbandhan 2.0”.

Apart from Mamata Banerjee, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, National Conference (NC) leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar would attend the rally.

Leaders from the Samajwadi Party (SP), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and other opposition parties would also address the mega rally.

“Narendra Modi knows he is not coming to power. His expiry date is over. Within 15 days, we will have election dates. We want to see a new government, the country wants a change, the country wants to see a united India, where democracy and inclusiveness will be sustained,” Banerjee said in Kolkata before leaving for New Delhi.

The West Bengal CM had indicated her participation in the opposition dharna when she called off her protest against the Centre’s “misuse of CBI” in Kolkata earlier this month. Mamata had said that while her dharna is over, she will take the fight to Delhi.

The opposition rally is being aimed to bring together the opposition for framing the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (Grand Alliance) to challenge the BJP-led NDA Government ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
