Major fire breaks out at DGHS office in Delhi’s Karkardooma

At least 22 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot

New Delhi: Major fire breaks out in Karkardooma area in Delhi.

A massive fire broke out in Delhi’s Karkardooma area on Friday afternoon. As per reports, the fire mishap has taken place at an edifice that houses the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

No injury has been reported so far as per the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials.

As per the report the fire department received a call at 1.50 pm after which 22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

“More than 60 fire personnel have been deployed in the fire fighting operation. No casualty has been reported,” said Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer.

The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, the officer added.

At least 400-500 people, including employees of the government officer, were inside the building when the fire started spreading across the structure.

The huge blaze initiated on the 6th floor of the DGHS building and quickly spread to the7th and 8th floors. The nearby Hedgewar Hospital has been evacuated to avoid any untoward incident, says report.

The inferno at the Directorate of Health Services building at Karkardooma is thankfully under control. I thank the Delhi Fire Department for their quick response in curbing the fire. I’ve spoken to the DCP, and thankfully there are no casualties, Gautam Gambhir, BJP leader tweeted about the fire mishap.
