Kolkata Police detains 5 CBI officials

Kolkata: In an unprecedented development, Kolkata police detained five Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers here this evening.

The CBI officials were detained by the cops when they had gone to question Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar in connection with chit fund scam cases.

Unidentified officials said that guards stopped the CBI team at the entrance, and a team of police officers asked them if they had the required documents to question Kumar.

On being informed about the matter, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Director General of Police Virendra reached Kumar’s house and had a high-level meeting.

Banerjee, meanwhile, threatened to sit on a dharna. “I am going to stage a dharna to save the federal structure. From today I’m going to sit near the Metro Channel. Tomorrow proceedings in state assembly will take place where I will hold a meeting. This dharna means satyagraha,” she said while speaking to the newsmen as quoted by ANI.

“BJP is torturing Bengal. They are forcibly trying to destroy Bengal just because I did brigade rally. Yesterday you saw the language of PM where he threatened,” she added.
