Kolkata: Amid rise of anti Hindu acts in Bangladesh, a hospital in Kolkata has refused to treat Bangladeshis, said reports on Saturday.
The hospital identified as Kolkata’s JN Ray Hospital issued a video statement saying, “We have decided that from today onwards, we will not treat any Bangladeshi patient. The country which disrespects our flag, kills Hindus cannot be treated by us. For us our country is first.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that her government stands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government, following the arrest of an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) priest in Bangladesh that has triggered tensions.
She expressed West Bengal’s government’s complete solidarity with the Centre over the issue. She also voiced concern over the over the safety of Hindus in the neighboring country of Bangladesh. Recently a series of attacks were also seen on Hindu temples in Bangladesh.
