New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet appointed senior IPS officer Rishi Kumar Shukla as the new Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today.

- Shukla was born in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh on August 23, 1960.
- Shukla is a Commerce Graduate and an officer of the 1983-batch from Madhya Pradesh.
- Shukla began his IPS career as Chief Superintendent of Police of Raipur district in undivided MP.
- Shukla has served as the Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh.
- Shukla served as the Joint Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) before becoming the DGP of Madhya Pradesh.
- Currently, Shukla is the chairman of Madhya Pradesh police housing corporation.
- Shukla was posted as the Superintendent of Police at Damoh, Shivpuri, and Mandsaur.
- Shukla served as the Additional DG Intelligence from the year 2009 to 2012.
- The 58-year-old police officer will now serve as CBI boss for a fixed tenure of two years.
