Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy was caught on tape saying “He was a good man. I don’t know who killed him and who killed him in this manner. Shoot them (the killers) mercilessly, there would be no issues.”

The said tape has been released by news agency ANI. Allegedly Kumaraswamy was caught on saying over phone to a senior police officer. He asked the officer to avenge killing of Janta Dal Secular (JDS) leader Prakash Kumar.

The Chief Minister’s Office later clarified that the CM had got emotional over the call to the alleged Police officer, and this was never meant to be a direct order. The CMO also said that HD Kumaraswamy condemns killing.

The CMO added that Prakash was a loyal and dedicated party worker. And his death was a big blow to state’s security measures. CM HD Kumaraswamy had simply asked the State Police to take necessary actions.

Two years ago two unknown assailants had attacked and brutally hacked Prakash to death in his own car. The investigation is still going on.
