KIIT to host World Congress of Poets in 2019

Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) will host the 39th World Congress of Poets (WCP) here in October 2019. This was announced by the World Academy of Arts and Culture (WAAC) during the on-going 38th World Congress of Poets in Suiyang County of China’s Guizhou Province.

WAACK President Dr. Maurus Young, Vice President Prof. Dr. Ernesto Kahan, and General Secretary Dr. Maria Eugenia Soberanis were present during the announcement.

WAAC and KIIT will jointly organize the 39th WCP next year. More than 1000 poets, writers including Noble Laureates from 75 countries and 2000 delegates from India will participate in the Congress.

During the 38th WCP, WAAC declared to honour Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS with its highest award “Golden Gabel” and confer Honorary D.Litt on him. It would be conferred later in India to Dr. Samanta as he was unable to attend the congress due to his ill health.

The Mayor of Suiyang County handed over the Flag and Flame of WCP to R. K. Das, Sr. Advisor of KIIT on the occasion.

The World Academy of Arts and Culture (UNESCO) auspices the World Congress of Poets (WCP) founded in 1969. The main motto of WAAC is to promote World Brotherhood and World Peace through Art and Culture.

Expressing his pleasure over the announcement, Dr. Samanta Said, “It is a matter of pride that, in India KIIT is hosting the 39th WCP”. It will definitely promote the art, culture, heritage, literature, tradition and tourism of Odisha in international level. Though Odisha has glorious history of art, culture, heritage, literature, tradition and tourism, it needs more promotion worldwide, he added.
