Special Police officer, wife shot dead at home by terrorists in J&K’s Pulwama district

Pulwama: A former special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and his wife were shot dead by terrorists at their home at Hariparigam village in Pulwama district on Sunday.

Their daughter has also sustained critical gunshot injuries in the firing. The Kashmir Zone Police reported the incident though a tweet on the micro blogging platform, Twitter.

Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “#Terrorists barged into the house of SPO Fayaz Ahmad of Hariparigam Awantipora and fired #indiscriminately. In this #terror incident, he along with his wife and daughter received #critical gunshot injuries. Fayaz Ahmad #succumbed to his injuries. Area cordoned off. Search going on.”

The deceased police officer, Fayaz Ahmad, was a resident of Hariparigam in Awantipora of the Pulwama district, said the police.

As per police reports, the terrorists barged into the officer’s home around 11 pm and started firing aimlessly at the family.

Fayaz, his wife along with their daughter received critical gunshot injuries in the firing and were rushed to the hospital.

The SPO and his wife Raja Begum succumbed to their injuries, while their daughter Rafia is being treated.

Security forces have launched a search operation and are trying to track down the terrorists.
