J&K: One terrorist, One informer killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar: One terrorist and one informer are believed to have been killed in an exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Monday morning.

An official said the gunfight erupted when militants ambushed a patrol party of the Army at Moolu Chitragam area in Shopian early in the morning.

“A patrol party of Rashtriya Rifles was fired upon today [Monday] by militants travelling in a vehicle in Chitragam village of Shopian district. The fire was returned resulting in a brief shootout in which one militant and an OGW were killed,” police said.

Two bodies were recovered from the site of the shootout and they have been identified as Firdos Ahmad Bhat and Sajad Ahmad Dar (OGW). Both were residents of Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir, reported NDTV

Following the encounter, Internet services were suspended in Kulgam.
