J&K: DSP Aman Thakur martyred, militant killed in Kulgam encounter
Srinagar: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Operations Aman Thakur was killed in an encounter at Turigam area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, Thakur received critical bullet injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Aman was a 2011 batch KPS officer who was leading the operation. He had been heading the counter-terrorism wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam district for the last one and a half years, news agency ANI said.

A militant was also killed in today’s encounter, a police official said adding that the identity and group affiliation of the slain ultra were being ascertained.
The security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Turigam area of Kulgam district following information about the presence of militants in the area, he added.
The militants opened fire on the security forces personnel, who retaliated, triggering a gun-battle.
