Kolkata:  A Railway Protection Force (RPF) official on Sunday informed that an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) agent has been arrested for selling the ‘tatkal’ (immediate) tickets to the commuters in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district.

The arrested IRCTC agent has been identified as Subarna Kanti Das, a resident of Haldia. Several train tickets and printers were also seized from his possession.

According to the RPF official, Das had bought some ‘tatkal’ tickets using his railway agent code and selling them to the commuters. He had been running the illegal activity for the last several months.

According to Indian Railway guidelines, the ‘tatkal’ tickets can be booked one day in advance excluding the date of journey and the IRCTC agents are not allowed to sell those tickets.
