Indonesian Plane Flown By Indian Pilot Bhavya Suneja Crashes Into Sea

New Delhi: Soon after taking off from the capital, Jakarta, an Indonesian aircraft with 189 people on board crashed into the sea and sank on Monday. The flight was under the command of Captain Bhavya Suneja who belonged to Mayur Vihar, New Delhi.

The aircraft named Lion Air flight, JT610 lost contact with ground officials 13 minutes after takeoff, and a tug boat leaving the capital’s port saw it fall confirmed Indonesia’s search and rescue agency.

Pilot Bhavya joined Lion Air in 2011 and had an experience of flying for 6000 hours in total. His co-pilot had an experience of 5000 hours, as per reports.

Search agency head Muhmmad Syaugi said, “We don’t know yet whether there are any survivors. We hope, we pray, but we cannot confirm.,” adding that no distress signal had been received from the aircraft’s emergency transmitter.

“We are there already, our vessels, our helicopter is hovering above the waters, to assist. We are trying to dive down to find the wreck.” Syaugi said.

Ambulances were lined up at Karawang, on the coast east of Jakarta and police were preparing rubber dinghies.

As per reports, 23 government officials were on board.
