India successfully tests anti-satellite weapon : PM Modi

New Delhi: India’s anti-satellite weapon A-SAT missile successfully destroyed a live satellite on a low earth orbit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Wednesday adding that India has become the fourth nation to have tested an anti-satellite weapon, after the US, Russia and China.

Addressing to the nation, the Prime Minister said that ‘Mission Shakti’ operation was a difficult target to achieve, but was completed successfully within three minutes of launch.

“India’s achievements in the space sector are to maintain the security of the country. India does not believe in war. The success of the mission will help us in preparing ourselves for future challenges,” Modi added.

‘Mission Shakti’ will make India stronger, even more secure and will further peace and harmony, the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi also congratulated all DRDO scientists for achieving this unparallel feat.
