India sees highest daily Covid-19 death toll in current wave

New-Delhi: India reported 2,35,532 fresh Covid cases and 871 new deaths in a span of 24 hours, said the Union health ministry on Saturday morning.

With the addition of 627 fresh new Covid fatalities, the toll has climbed to 4,93,198.

The daily positivity rate has reduced to 13.39% as well. The current number of active cases is 20,04,333, while 3,35,939 have recovered from the virus.

With the rise in cases, India’s active caseload has reached 20,04,333, which is 4.91 percent of total cases. With 3,35,939 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries reached 3,83, 60,710. 

Also in the same period, a total of 17,59,434 tests were conducted across the country, taking the total to 72.57 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 16.89 per cent, while daily positivity rate has come down to 13.39 per cent.

With the administration of over 56 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid inoculation coverage reached 165.04 crore as of Saturday morning.

More than 12 crore balance and unutilised doses are still available with the states and UTs.
