India sees 22,775 new Covid-19 cases, 1431 Omicron cases

New-Delhi: India reports 22,775 new Covid-19 cases and 406 deaths in the last 24 hours,  said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday.

With the addition of the new fatalities, the total death toll has climbed at 4,81,486.

The active caseload currently stands at 1,04,781 while recovery rate currently is 98.32%.

India’s Omicron cases tally surged to 1,431 as per the data released by the Union Ministry of Family and Health Affairs on Saturday. The fast-spreading virus variant has spread to 23 states across the country, the government said.

The Omicron variant has now spread to 23 states in India. Maharashtra is the worst-affected state with 454 cases, followed by Delhi with 351 infections.

Several states across India reported a huge spike in Covid numbers on New Year’s eve.

Earlier today, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Friday said that India has crossed the milestone of 145 crore Covid vaccinations. “My gratitude to our doctors, scientists, healthcare and frontline workers for displaying immense grit, determination & resolve in the challenging 2021 year,” he said in a tweet.
