India Reports Close To 1.8 Lakh Covid Cases and 4,033 Omicron Positives

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: In a marked rise, India reported as many as 1,79,723  fresh COVID cases in the past 24 hours on Monday.

The country reported a low number of recoveries at 40,863 cases.

As a relief, the number of deaths in the country decreased considerably and reached 146 in last 24 hours the entire nation.

However, the active Covid cases in the country stand at 7,23,619.

The Covid death toll stands at 4.84 lakh in India till date.

Daily positivity rate in India reached 13.29%.

A total of 4,033 Omicron cases were reported in 27 States/UTs of India so far.

Meanwhile, India will begin administering the third ‘precautionary doses’ to priority groups such as: health care workers, frontline workers and those aged above 60 years with comorbidities.

According to the Centre’s directions, the third dose will be of the same vaccine as the first two doses.

It is also noteworthy that, the precautionary dose can be administered only after an interval of nine months from the last vaccination dose.
