India Reports Biggest Single-Day Spike In 5 Months With 46,951 Covid Cases

New-Delhi:  With a total of 46,951 new coronavirus cases, India registers the biggest single-day spike in five months taking the total caseload to 1,16,46,081 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry informed on Monday.

The active COVID-19 tally has reached 3,34,646, said the Union Health Ministry, adding that 212 deaths were reported during the same period. It said that India’s fatality rate stands at 1.37 per cent with 1,59,967 deaths.

As many as 4,50,65,998, doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far.

The worst affected state, Maharashtra on Sunday recorded its highest single-day spike with 30,535 new Covid-19 cases. The state also recorded 99 deaths in Mumbai.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 23,44,45,774 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 21st March 2021. Of which 8,80,655 samples were tested yesterday.
