India records sudden surge in Covid-19 deaths
New Delhi: India reported 3,998 patients have succumbed to COVID-19, which takes the total toll to 4,18,480, according to the data released by Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
As many as 42,015 fresh coronavirus cases, which takes the tally to 3,12,16,337. The weekly positivity rate remains below 5%, currently at 2.09 % whereas the daily positivity rate is at 2.27 % which is less than 3 % for 30 consecutive days.
A total of 36,977 patients recovered in the same time span, taking the number of recoveries to 3,03,90,687. Hence, the recovery rate remains at 97.36%.
The daily active caseload declines to 4,07,170 in the last 24 hours, which constitutes 1.30 % of total cases.
As of now, a total of 41,18,46,401 citizens of the country have been vaccinated including 36,26,054 in last 24 hours.
The total number of samples tested up to July 20 is 44,91,93,273 including 18,52,140 samples tested on Tuesday, informed the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
