Imphal West District In Manipur Imposes Curfew Till May 17

Imphal West: The Imphal West District In Manipur imposed curfew under section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973 from May 8 till May 17 due to the increasing spread in Covid-19 infections.

The sections shall prohibit the movement of any person out of their respective houses.

However the following are exemptions from the restrictions of the curfew:

  • all healthcare facilities including animal healthcare, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and movement of healthcare workers.
  • all pharmacies including those who are selling veterinary medicines
  • all persons going for Covid-19 vaccination, Covid testing and medical emergencies
  • all employees and personal staff working in media, fire service, power, PHED, CAF & PD, home, health, relief & DM, police department and district administration.
  • Only goods vehicles, oxygen related vehicles, LPG and oil tanker vehicles of other essential services like power supply, fire service, water supply, waste/garbage clearance, public distribution system, medical/Covid services, electronic and print media, internet and telecom service, providers and vehicles of departments/organizations shall be permitted
  • Opening of petrol pumps and LPG outlets and movement of IOCL staffs
  • Movement of staff of Imphal airport and and passengers
  • Hotels for lodging with minimum staff

Incase of emergencies and for persons who want to take out procession for marriage, funeral etc., within the scheduled area can make application to the District Magistrate or to the Superintendent of Police for permission. They shall not take out the procession until a written permission is received from the concerned authorities.
