I’m chanting Jai Shri Ram, Arrest me: Amit Shah dares Mamta Bannerjee

Joy Nagar, West Bengal: Mere hours after BJP president Amit Shah was denied permission to land his chopper for a rally in Bengal, Shah dared TMC supremo Mamta Bannerjee to take action against him.

While addressing a rally in Joy Nagar, he challenged State chief minister Mamata Banerjee to arrest him for saying ‘Jai Sri Ram.’ ” Mamata Didi says that no one can say Jai Sriram in Bengal. I am leaving this forum saying Jai Sriram and going to Kolkata from here. If Mamata Didi has the guts to arrest me, let her.”

Hitting out at the Trinamool Congress government over denial of permission for his chopper to land in Baruipur, Amit Shah said, “The Mamata Banerjee government is visibly perplexed. She wants to stop me from attending rallies. The TMC can stop me from addressing rallies, but can’t stop the victory march of BJP in Bengal.”

Reportedly, supporters of the BJP and the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress clashed at the venue of the cancelled event.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said the Bengal administration had been denying permission to the events of Amit Shah and other BJP leaders because the ruling Trinamool was worried about growing support for the party. Mamata Banerjee’s party, he said, was using “undemocratic means” to target the BJP.

In 42-seat Bengal, nine seats will vote in the last phase of the general election on May 19. The results will be declared on May 23.
