I wish Modi to be PM once again: Mulayam Singh Yadav

PM Narendra Modi accepts Mulayam’s comment as blessings

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said that he wished to see Narendra Modi back as the Prime Minister of India. His comment left some of the opposition stunned while the rest were seen laughing. Ruling BJP leaders showed their support by thumping their desks. And the Prime Minister acknowledged Mr Mulayam’s wish with folded hands.

“I wish pradhan mantriji becomes pradhan mantri again,” said Yadav.

“I congratulate him (Modi) for making efforts to take everyone along,” Yadav said, adding the prime minister has done good work.

Ruling alliance members heartily cheered Mr Mulayam with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as he praised Mr Modi for “making efforts to take everyone along”.

Meanwhile, his immediate neighbour Sonia Gandhi seemed to be in shock and stayed mum.

Later, Mr Modi mentioned Mr Mulayam’s “blessings” in his speech.

Mulayam later ducked questions on his praise for Modi when he was mobbed by reporters while leaving the Lok Sabha.

The SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and current President of SP Akhilesh Yadav are known to not be on good terms anymore. Akhilesh had ousted his father Mulayam and taken over the party two years ago.

Mulayam’s comment was either a jibe at PM Modi or actual praise for him is yet to be clear.
