Jaisalmer: An Indian Army jawaan from Rohtak has been arrested by Rajasthan Police for allegedly disclosing information about his unit to an agent of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency who allegedly honey-trapped him.
The jawaan, identified as Somveer Singh, was posted to the Armoured Corps in Jaisalmer. He had come under the scanner of the army intelligence since he began receiving regular phone calls from Jammu.
Probe indicated that he has been allegedly honey trapped by a woman posing as ‘Anika Chopra’ on Facebook and claiming to be a ‘Captain’ in the Army Medical Corps. Singh was in touch with the incognito Facebook user since 2016.
A unit of the Military intelligence detained Singh when he was allegedly caught sending pictures and location of exercise and other things, including Arjun Tanks, to the woman. He was arrested under the Official Secrets Act, 1923 and was produced in court which granted him custody bail till January 18.
