Hippopotamus kills man at Zoo in Lucknow

New Delhi: A hippopotamus killed a man at a zoo in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Following the incident, the animal was reportedly locked and the man was rushed to a hospital. However, he succumbed to the injury.

“Lucknow Zoo director Aditi Sharma said the animal was immediately locked and the cleaner was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died,” reported Hindustan Times.

As per reports, the Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, commonly known as Lucknow Zoo is closed on Monday. The hippo reportedly attacked the man during regular cleaning.

Reportedly, the deceased was a trained cleaner at the zoo with 10-year work experience. On Monday, he entered the enclosure along with his colleague. They entered after shifting the hippo into another cell as per the protocol. Normally, the animal remains locked in the cell until the cleaning is finished. However, somehow this animal attacked the cleaner and later he died.

Confirm reports under what circumstance the man was killed is yet to come.
