Highest ever! India Reports More Than 1 Lakh Covid Positives And 478 Deaths
Bhubaneswar: India saw a whooping rise of Covid cases at 1,03,558 in the last 24 hours. It is the highest ever rise in a single day. The highest ever peak of 99,181 cases was seen last year in September.
India has surpassed Brazil and USA to become the biggest current Covid-19 hot spot.
India is only the second country after the US to add more than 1,00,000 positives in 24 hours during the pandemic.
The Central Government has attributed the spike to a severe decline in the compliance of Covid appropriate behaviour, pandemic fatigue, and lack of effective implementation of containment measures.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed central teams consisting of public health specialists to be sent to Maharashtra, Punjab and Chhattisgarh, the states in which the situation has spiralled out of control.
