New Delhi: Haryana’s self-styled God man Jalebi Baba who allegedly raped more than 100 women reportedly died on Tuesday night. He had been sentenced with 14 years of imprisonment for raping his disciple women. He was reportedly rushed to a hospital following complain of pain, however the doctors declared him dead.
Ram, alias Amarpuri was reportedly selling jalebi on a push cart. Later, he was introduced to occult practices by another person and he then became a self-styled God man. However, with reference to his earlier trade of vending jalebi he was known as Jalebi Baba.
Reportedly, Jalebi Baba was first booked for rape in 2017 after a woman accused him of sexual assault at his residence. Of course, in this case he managed to get bail.
In 2018 Police knew about the crimes of Jalebi Baba when a woman stated that ‘Jalebi Baba had forced her into having physical relations with him when she went for a treatment of ‘opri parai’ (Evil Spirit),’ reported Indian Express.
Following the incident a case was registered and Police swung into action. Reportedly, during the investigation police found 120 purported sex video clippings of the baba. These video clips were recovered from the Baba’s mobile phone. Navbharat Times reported that the baba had allegedly raped more than 100 women. However, according to Sanjay Verma, the counsel for the victims reportedly said that though the accused had faced allegations of raping five women and a minor, he had been convicted for raping three women including a minor. In January 2023, a Fatehabad court sentenced him to 14 years in jail.
