Haryana: 3 police officials sacked, 2 suspended for assaulting woman 

Faridabad: The Haryana Police has suspended two head constables and dismissed three Special Police Officers after a video of a woman allegedly being assaulted by a group of Faridabad Police officials went viral on social media.

A case has been registered against the accused police officials at Adarsh Nagar Police Station, Faridabad. The accused have been identified as head constables Baldev and Rohit, and special police officers Krishna, Harpal and Dinesh. The last two have been arrested, and the police are looking for the others.

However, all five police personnel have been granted bail by a local court in connection with the case today.

The spokesperson of the Haryana police said that the incident took place in October 2018. It was not reported to the police by the victim. The video surfaced on social media two days back that created a huge public outcry in the state.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Virk tweeted that police had taken a strong view of the incident. The police “is committed to respect and safety of women, and would not hesitate to take strictest possible action even against its own personnel if they act in an unlawful manner”, he tweeted.

One Haryana shared the video in its official Twitter handle.
