Hapur: 9 people, including 8 children, were killed in a major road accident in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh at around 11:30 pm on Sunday night.
The mishap took place near Sadiqpur village under Hafizpur police station area. As per reports, a speeding Mini truck crashed with the Mahindra Pick-up van, killing 9 people and injuring many others. The driver of the mini-truck fled from the spot after committing the crime.

The local villagers near the accident spot called the SHOs and SPs to report the accident. However, the officers did not pick up their phones. Post this, the villagers wasted no time and rushed the injured victims to the nearest hospital with mutual assistance.
As per reports, as many as 15 people have sustained injuries. Nine of them have been referred to Meerut Hospital for treatment.
All the victims are said to be residents of Salepur, Kotla a village under Thana Daulana area. They were returning to their village after attending a wedding ceremony in Hapur when the terrible mishap occurred.
