Good news for central employees! Cabinet approves 3% Dearness Allowance hike

In what can be considered as a Diwali gift, the Union Cabinet has approved 3 per cent Dearness Allowance hike for government employees.

Let us tell you that if 3% DA is hiked then under the 7th Pay Commission, the Central Government employees will get 31% of their basic salary as DA.

Informing about the decision of the Union Government, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Dearness Allowance for Central Government employees to be increased from 28% to 31%, will be effective from July 1, 2021. This would benefit the pensioners as well.

The Minister further said that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved PM GatiShakti National Master Plan including institutional framework for rolling out, implementation, monitoring and support mechanism for providing multi-modal connectivity.

The PM GatiShakti NMP will be monitored in a three-tier system. Implementation framework includes an Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS) headed by Cabinet Secretary, he added.

Notably, the Centre had approved an increase in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) given to central government employees and pensioners from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. The increase was applicable from July 1, 2021.
