Panaji: The Goa government on Monday decided to shut schools and colleges again till January 26 in light of the rising Covid-19 cases of the Omicron variant.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired the task force’s meeting Monday and imposed a night curfew in the coastal state as well.
On Sunday, Goa reported a Covid-19 positivity rate of 10.7 percent.
Students of Classes 11 and 12 will now need to attend school in order to take their Covid-19 vaccinations, following which they would not need to attend classes till January 26.
The official said that the night curfew would be imposed in Goa from 11 pm to 6 am.
As of Sunday, the number of Covid-19-infected in Goa is 1,81,570. The death toll stands at 3,523 as per official data.
