Former Union Minister And Congress Leader Buta Singh Passes Away

Delhi: Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader passed away on Saturday. He was 86-year-old when he took his last breath.

The former union minister fought his first election as a member of Akali Dal and in 1960s joined the Indian National Congress. For the first time he was elected to 3rd Lok Sabha from Sadhna constituency in Rajasthan in 1962.

Later he held many positions which includes Union Home Minister and Union Agriculture Minister.

He was the Chairperson of National Commission for Schedule Cast from 2007 to 2010.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief and extended his condolences to the senior leader’s family. “Shri Buta Singh Ji was an experienced administrator and effective voice for the welfare of the poor as well as downtrodden. Saddened by his passing away. My condolences to his family and supporters,” PM Modi tweeted.
