8 killed, 9 injured in firecracker factory blast in Ahmedabad, PM announces financial assistance to victims

PM Modi expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who died and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

Ahmedabad: A tragic incident took place in which at least 8 people lost their lives and 9 sustained injuries after a blast happened in illegal firecracker factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat yesterday.

Following the blast the factory collapsed due to which several workers got trapped under the debris.

Rescue teams, firefighters, and police reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital for medical treatment.

Due to the blast incident it was learnt that the affected firecrackers factory was running illegally even after license cancellation.

The reason behind the explosion is yet to be known, the investigation to find it out is ongoing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who died and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
