Exit Polls Are Gossip, Do Not Trust Them: Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata: Calling exit polls as “gossip”, TMC Chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said she doesn’t trust such surveys, as the “game plan” is to use them for “manipulation” of EVMs.
Most exit polls forecast a majority for the ruling BJP-led NDA in Lok Sabha elections with varying numbers, as the seven-phase democratic exercise ended Sunday.
“I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip. The game plan is to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs through this gossip. I appeal to all Opposition parties to be united, strong and bold. We will fight this battle together,” Banerjee said in a tweet.

The TMC chief will be meeting Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to discuss strategies of opposition parties ahead of the declaration of 2019 poll results.
Alike Mamata Banerjee, Naidu also tweeted his rebuttal to the exit poll predictions, reminding that these surveys had “time and again” failed to catch the people’s pulse. “While undoubtedly TDP govt will be formed in AP, we are confident that non-BJP parties will form a non-BJP govt at the center (sic),” Naidu said in a late night tweet on Sunday.
Time and again exit polls have failed to catch the People’s pulse. Exit polls have proved to be incorrect and far from ground reality in many instances. While undoubtedly TDP govt will be formed in AP, we are confident that non-BJP parties will form a non-BJP govt at the center.
