ED attaches assets worth Rs 1.94 cr of former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday said it has provisionally attached one immovable property here worth over 1.94 crore rupees of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala under Prevention of Money Laundering Act in a corruption case.

An official release said the case was initiated on the basis of an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Chautala, his two sons and others for the acquisition of assets disproportionate to their known source of income.

CBI has filed charge sheet against Om Prakash Chautala, Abhay Chautala and Ajay Chautala under Prevention of Corruption Act.

An investigation conducted by CBI revealed that the former Chief Minister had acquired assets disproportionate to his known source of income to the tune of six crores during the check period from  May 1993 to May 2006.

In 2013, the ED had similarly attached Om Prakash Chautala’s assets worth Rs 46.96 lakh and subsequently filed a charge sheet against him in July last year.
