EC Advises Yogi Adityanath To Be Careful In Future References To Armed Forces

New Delhi:  The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday advised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to be “more careful” in future references to the armed forces in his poll campaign speeches.

At a rally in Ghaziabad on March 31, Yogi Adityanath had called the Indian Armed Forces “Modiji ki Sena.”

The UP CM, in his reply submitted to the Commission on Friday, had defended his remark saying that by “Modiji ki Sena” he meant the country’s army.

Adityanath said he had done nothing wrong since the President, the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, acts on the advice of the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Noteworthy, Adityanath’s reply was submitted to the EC in response to a show-cause notice issued to him on Wednesday for violating the Model Code of Conduct by using defence activities for political gains.
