DYFI Protests at Payyanur Baby Memorial Hospital over Alleged Anaesthesia Negligence, watch
Police were deployed at the site to maintain order as the protest continued peacefully for over an hour.
Kannur, Kerala: Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest in front of Baby Memorial Hospital in Payyanur today, demanding action over alleged medical negligence. ANI posted a video of the protest on X and informed about this.
The protest follows allegations that improper administration of anaesthesia left a 1-year-and-5-month-old child critically ill with brain damage.
Family members claim the child’s condition deteriorated after a routine procedure at the hospital, and have accused doctors of negligence in monitoring and dosage.
DYFI leaders and workers raised slogans and held placards, seeking a detailed inquiry and strict action against those responsible. They also demanded better safety protocols for pediatric patients.
Hospital authorities have not issued an official statement yet. The family has reportedly filed a complaint with the health department and is seeking expert medical opinion on the child’s condition.
Police were deployed at the site to maintain order as the protest continued peacefully for over an hour.
