Durga Idol In UP Temple Sports Face Mask

Etah: Amidst covid surge in India, the devotees visiting a temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah during the Chaitra Navratri were taken by surprise when they noticed the idol of goddess Durga wearing a face mask and priests offering masks as prasad.

The priest of the Durga Temple told, As Navratri is amidst the second wave of Covid-19 and people are not aware of the Covid situation in the state, we have to put a face mask on the idol of the goddess and have been distributing face masks as prasad to promote Covid-19 appropriate behaviour among the devotees. We have also made proper arrangements for hand sanitiser and have also placed Covid-19 advisory at several places on the temple premises.

We are also not allowing more than five devotees inside the temple premises. Also, social distancing will be maintained during the morning and evening aarti, informed priest of the temple.

Etah district recorded 81 Covid-19 positive cases on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 20,439 people were declared Covid-19 positive in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, while 67 succumbed to the deadly virus in the state.
