Detailed itinerary of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune today

PM Modi will visit Pune, where he will be conferred the Lokmanya Tilak National Award and lay the foundation for various projects in the city.

Maharashtra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long visit to Pune in Maharashtra today. He will flag off Metro trains marking inauguration of services on completed sections of the two corridors of Pune Metro Phase I. Mr. Modi will also be conferred the Lokmanya Tilak National Award for his outstanding contributions towards the progress of the country. Prime Minister will begin his Pune visit by performing Darshan and Pooja at Dagdusheth Mandir.

Prime Minister will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award by Deepak Tilak, President of Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust. This Award was instituted in 1983 by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust and is given every year on 1st August, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, to persons who have made remarkable and extraordinary contributions, working for the progress and development of the nation.  Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, member of parliament  Sharad Pawar will be on dias for the ceremony.

Prime Minister will offer floral tributes at the statue of Lokmanya Tilak.  Prime Minister will flag off Metro trains marking inauguration of services on completed sections of the two corridors of Pune Metro. These sections are from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station.

The foundation of this project was laid by the Prime Minister himself in 2016. The new sections will connect important places of Pune city like Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO and Pune Railway Station. Prime Minister will inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Developed at a cost of about Rs 300 crores, it will use up about 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to produce electricity.

‘Prime Minister will also hand over houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC and Pune Municipal Corporation. Further, Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of PMAY houses to be constructed by PCMC and PMRDA.
